Virtual Theremin

A multi-player theremin in the browser. Your body is the instrument— antennas stay invisible unless you turn on the theremin overlay.

  1. Stand so your upper body and both hands are visible to the camera.
  2. Pitch (right hand): move toward an invisible vertical antenna to your right—closer raises the pitch.
  3. Volume (left hand): lift above an invisible horizontal antenna at your side—higher is louder. Make a fist to mute.
  4. Drop both hands below the instrument (or leave the frame) to go silent—other players keep their own sound.
  5. Open or close your right fingers for fine pitch / vibrato; twist the wrist to warm or brighten the tone.
  6. More than one person can play at once; each body gets its own voice.
